Daejeon Gnocchi Restaurant “Le Mont Tact” in Juk-dong

Ever get hooked on something out of nowhere?

You know those phases — when you’re suddenly obsessed with a certain song, or end up eating the same menu for days?

Well, for me, it was gnocchi.
Not pasta. Not pizza. Just soft, pillowy potato gnocchi that melts in your mouth.

And for weeks, I was on a mission:
Find the best gnocchi in Daejeon.

Where I finally landed: Le Mont Tact, Juk-dong

📍 28, Eungubi-ro 155beon-gil, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, South Korea
🅿️ Parking is limited (street-side or adjacent to the building)
🕒 Check Instagram for hours — they plan to renovate this summer!

Le Mont Tact consists of two charming white buildings tucked into a quiet residential area.
From the outside, it gives off cozy Nordic vibes — simple, minimalistic, and calm.

They sometimes open both buildings during peak hours, but usually only the main dining hall is in use.

Interior, Atmosphere & First Impressions

The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by:

Light-toned wooden furniture

Scandinavian-style ceramic plates and cutlery

A peaceful, homey vibe (though it can get noisy when crowded)

I especially loved the tableware — beautifully designed and such a treat for the eyes. No wonder the food tasted better. Good plates do make food taste better. It’s all about the experience!

🍞 Complimentary Bread & Water

Water is served in an elegant clear bottle — cool, clean, and refreshing

Complimentary bread (seems like simple ciabatta) is paired with balsamic olive oil

A great way to prep your palate before the main dishes.

The Star: Homemade Potato Gnocchi

Now, this is what I came for — and it was so worth it.

Ingredients:
Korean-grown potatoes (from Gangwon Province)

Shiitake mushroom paste

Pickled celery

Dried black olives

A delicate drizzle of truffle oil

The texture was spot on — slightly crisp on the outside, soft and chewy inside.
You know it’s done right when it feels like biting into a warm cloud of potato.

The truffle oil was subtle, not overpowering, and blended beautifully with the other ingredients.

🥄 Verdict: Perfectly balanced, fragrant, and absolutely addictive. Would come back just for this.

We Had to Try More

  1. Pork Jowl & Anchovy Sauce Linguine
An unexpected fusion of Italian and Korean ingredients.

Salt-cured pork jowl

Kkaori chili peppers

Anchovy-based meljeot (a fermented Korean dip)

Zucchini, dried anchovies, and flat linguine noodles

It felt like something you’d get from a Korean BBQ chef moonlighting as a pasta artist.

⚠️ The flavor was unique — tasty, but the anchovy smell lingered a bit longer than I’d like. Worth trying once!

  1. Seafood Saffron Barley Risotto
A Spanish-inspired dish, reminiscent of paella.

Saffron

Mussels, short-neck clams, periwinkles, squid

Barley instead of rice

Tomato base and asparagus

It was comforting, healthy, and full of umami.
The barley gave it an interesting bite, different from traditional risottos.

🍅 Bonus: The dish looks just as beautiful as it tastes. Generous toppings!

🍷 Feels Like a Wine Night

The dishes are neither overly salty nor greasy — making them perfect for pairing with a glass of wine.
Whether you’re on a date or hosting a family gathering, this place works beautifully.

I’m definitely coming back to try more — but honestly, I’ll always re-order the gnocchi.

Ending the Day at Starbucks Reserve

After dinner, we took a short walk and ended up at Starbucks Reserve nearby.

We picked a specialty roast, brewed fresh — though I must admit, I’m still not sure I can tell the difference 😅 It feels like how the barista brews it really affects the flavor.

✅ Le Mont Tact is more than a restaurant — it’s an experience.
✅ Their potato gnocchi is officially my go-to in Daejeon.
✅ The space, the food, and even the plates all reflect thoughtful care.

Whether you’re chasing down the best gnocchi in Korea, or just looking for a cozy restaurant to enjoy something a little different — this is your spot.
